Fairmount

Fairmount is a great neighborhood with many iconic Philly favorites, including the Eastern State Penitentiary which was once the most famous and expensive prisons in the world. The area also features the very large 2,000 acre Fairmount Park that harbors the Shofuso Japanese House, many historic mansions like the Strawberry Mansion & Lemon Hill Mansion, as well as trees that bloom cherry blossoms in the spring.

The remaining area is in close proximity to the Schuylkill River, Philadelphia Zoo, Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Franklin Institute, and more that make up the Art Museum area. Fairmount features both old and new brownstones, and some boutique condo buildings. Paired with the tree-lined blocks and many small family owned bars, restaurants, and coffee shops, Fairmount has a more intimate, neighborhood feel.

North of Fairmount Ave, South of Girard Ave, west of Corinthian and east of the Schuylkill River, this area has plenty of convenience with public transit being readily available and Whole Foods and Target nearby. This area also includes the Bache-Martin Catchment, featuring grades preK through 8th grade.
